last night, while stocking peppers and zucchini, i noticed one of the boxes from which KD was stocking salad mixes on the bottom of his cart: now empty of boxed spinach, it was full instead of cardboard scrolls. it took me a second look to realize that instead of laying his broken-down empty boxes in a flat stack on the floor, he had been rolling them up like one does a sleeping bag. instead of the usual cardboard jungle left to envelop the person restocking the salad wall, KD had a neat little stash of corrugated yoga mats.
